Since 1998, my love of photography has grown. I have worked hard on developing a style that suits my personal taste. Photographer's that have influenced my results have been from the world renowned, Herb Ritts and Annie Leibovitz, to the closer to home, Darwin Wiggett (Alberta) and April Visel (California).

The best word to describe my personal photo style would be, "bold". Bold is the structure and form of these images. They quite frequently possess a subtle geometric aspect. The subject matter is uniquely clear and needs little if any explanation, an excellent quality for communicating a message or intention.

A Little More

I've never really lived anywhere for more than 4 years at a time. It may be a hidden reason why I found photography or photography found me. Looking back on things, I've lived many different lives before arriving at this one.

As a girl growing up I had a gift for running. The love of which grew in my imagination, chasing or riding imaginary horses wherever my feet could take me. My imaginary horses took me all the way to the Juvenile BC / Yukon Athletics team. There I ranked top ten in the country for both my 400m and 800m distance races. I achieved this at a great cost to my health and it was decided that I could no longer keep up with competitions. My dream of having a horse to carry me came alive just as my athletics ambitions died.

My Mare was off the racetrack, just like me, and we became best friends. She was two when I got her, and she still munches hay and carries me on adventures to this day.

The excitement of competition was replaced by my local volunteer fire department. I became a member at age 16 and continued there for two years. I've been in burning buildings, burning fields, driven the fire truck and all that stuff. I have a healthy respect for fire and all it can conquer in less than 30 sec. I have often wondered if firefighting wasn't my calling. I miss it.

I moved away from home after graduating High School to Jasper Alberta. I lived vicariously through some of the members of the fire department there. All of them really great people. Unfortunately, their roster was full but I managed to tag along for some of the staged events and community activities.

I became a trail guide for Pyramid Stables in the summer after running for the title of Miss Rodeo Jasper. If you know me.. you might be chuckling right now. Yes, I had big hair, a big hat, and huge earrings that sparkled. Every girl wants to be a princess, even the tomboys from time to time. The Scholarship from the position, made it possible to attend the Digital Arts and Media Program at Grant MacEwan College.

Two years of dark rooms, editing suits and computer labs taught me enough to sustain a viable business plan. I took marketing as an elective to boost the chances of success.

A few years later and Wildmedia has become an excellent source of high quality equine imagry.

In the off season, I have been a remote medic working for Remote Medical Services, and recently achieved a position with Stone Mountain Avalanche as a Rescue Tech in the mountians of British Columbia.
